LeeSar and Cooperative Services of Florida were formed in 1998 as a cooperative effort by two major Southwest Florida hospital systems, Lee Memorial Healthcare System and Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.

Visionary healthcare leaders Jim Nathan, President of Lee Memorial Healthcare system, and Dr. Finlay, former President of Sarasota Memorial Healthcare system, believed that hospitals could save millions of dollars every year by vertically integrating healthcare chain supply management, as well as through self-distribution and self-contracting.

Since its inception in 1998, the company has been recognized for its innovation and progressive business practices with numerous awards and accolades. LeeSar received the Senator’s Choice Award, presented by Senator Michael Bennett, recognizing LeeSar as “The 2011 Most Innovative Company” in the state of Florida.
